MPT had previously produced an educational Web site, LearningWorks, which was widely used by more than 62,000 teachers in over 2,400 elementary, secondary and post-secondary schools in the Maryland. Among the site’s offerings were online fieldtrips, curriculum-based resources, teacher guides, technology-integrated lesson plans, and professional development opportunities.

e.magination redesigned the static Web site to create a dynamic online tool that provides teachers, parents and students access to a rich collection of content.

Upon analysis of the site, e.magination suggested that MPT select Microsoft® .NET connected software as the framework, incorporating a robust portal architecture, content management functionality, personalization, and a standards-based content repository which would contain the thousands of educational resources to be offered.

Results:

MPT can now easily maintain the site through a custom content management system, specifically designed for the purpose. This allows for the site’s educational content to be personalized, rated, reviewed, and shared with other Internet sites. For Thinkport.org, this means a content-rich, personalized experience for teachers and students which will have a direct impact on education in the State of Maryland.
